Carol Westinghouse is a specialist in environmentally preferable  
purchasing of institutional cleaning products/Cleaning for Health
programs.  She developed the program for INFORM Inc and has
recently established her own national non-profit organization, a partner
of INFORM. Since 2004, she has provided technical assistance to more
than 260 facilities, including over 200 schools in five states.  Her work
in this area has resulted in the prevention of an estimated 120,000
pounds of toxics from entering the environment and protected the
health of 150,000 students and custodial staff.  Her Train-the-Trainer
program has identified and is training eight associates across New
England to use the Cleaning for Health technical assistance method,
greatly expanding the reach of the program.  She has researched and
written a suite of fact sheets to educate the public and school
stakeholders on Cleaning for Heath issues.

Ms. Westinghouse has served as a member of the Green Seal
Stakeholders Group, representing NGOs to help revise Greenseal’s™  
GS-37 Standard for Institutional and Industrial Cleaners and on a
CleanGredients Fragrance workgroup to develop a standard for the   
EPA’s Design for the Environment program.  She has also served on  
the National Collaborative on Green Cleaning and Chemical Policy  
Reform in Schools workgroup whose members include the American
Federation of State and Municipal Employees, America Federation of
Teachers, National Association of School Nurses, Green Schools
Initiative, Green Purchasing Institute, American Lung Association of NE,
New York State United Teachers and MASSCOSH. She serves on several
other national workgroups including one that is investigating the proper
usage of disinfectants in schools.

For the 15 years prior to joining INFORM, Ms. Westinghouse worked
as an Environmental Consultant throughout New England. In addition
to administering health and safety programs for workers, she developed
an environmentally preferable purchasing guide for sensitive populations
and served on State of Vermont subcommittees working on IAQ and
pesticide issues. As a Consultant at Jay H. Karpin Associates, Ms.
Westinghouse assisted industrial facilities in reducing toxic chemicals
used in the manufacturing process. She holds a BS in Environmental
Science from Johnson State College.
